FAQ & What to Expect

Frequently Asked Questions about Thai massage and KP Bodywork

If you are looking for a Thai massage in Dharamshala, you may have questions about how sessions work, their benefits, and what to expect. Here are the most common answers.

Before your session

Do I need to book in advance?

Yes. Sessions are offered by appointment only to ensure presence, preparation, and personalized care.
You can book your Thai massage directly here or contact us for guidance.

How early should I arrive?

Please arrive 5–10 minutes prior to your appointment. This allows time for a brief consultation to discuss your health history and customize the session to your needs.

What should I wear for my a Thai massage session?

For most sessions, including traditional Thai massage, Lanna stretching, and Tok Sen therapy, you should wear loose and comfortable clothing such as yoga pants or a tracksuit.

Thai massage is performed fully clothed on a traditional floor mat, allowing freedom of movement and ease during assisted stretching.
For Chi Nei Tsang (abdominal massage), we recommend wearing a two-piece outfit so the abdominal area can be accessed comfortably and respectfully.

If you are unsure, feel free to ask before your session, guidance will be provided to ensure you feel comfortable and prepared.

Specialized Therapies

Does Tok Sen (Hammer Massage) hurt?

Not at all. Although the sound of the wooden tools may seem strong, the sensation is a gentle, deep vibration.
Tok Sen therapy works through resonance rather than pressure, and intensity is always adapted to your comfort level.

Is Chi Nei Tsang (Abdominal Massage) uncomfortable?

Because this technique works with internal organs, you may feel unfamiliar sensations or gentle “tension points,” but it should not be painful.
We recommend avoiding heavy meals at least 2 hours before your session.

What is the difference between Yoga Class and Yoga Therapy?

A private yoga class focuses on movement, flow, and general practice.
Yoga therapy is more specific and corrective, designed to support injuries, postural imbalances, or chronic discomfort through targeted exercises.

After the Session

How will I feel after a Thai massage session?

Most clients feel “lighter” and more energized. However, due to the detoxifying nature of Acupressure and Chi Nei Tsang, you may feel a bit sleepy or “sore-good” the next day. We highly recommend drinking plenty of water following your treatment to help flush out toxins.

Health & Safety

Are there any conditions where Thai massage is not recommended?

If you have a fever, contagious skin condition, or have had recent major surgery, please consult your doctor first. For Chi Nei Tsang, specifically, we do not perform this on pregnant women or those with active IUDs or recent abdominal surgeries.
